One week to go

A week before the wedding Rafe and I did pictures at the temple. It was a freezing Saturday experience. Our photographer tried her best to photoshop our red ears and noses.

After our pictures Rafe went to pick up the car and our photographer left. There I was standing outside the temple by myself in my wedding dress I recived a ton of weird looks. Some people congratulated me and I even had a girl ask to take my picture because "she wanted to remember this picture and get married at the Salt Lake Temple someday". Sure lady knock yourself out.

Our announcements

For the style of our reception I really like the vintage/antique look. I was so excited when we were looking for our announcements and I found this design that almost matched perfectly the fabric I had for our table runners and other decor. I thought It turned out perfect. We also didn't want our picture to look to lovey dovey, don't get me wrong Rafe and I certainly love each other but we just wanted our picture to reflect our personalities a little and I though this picture was great. We love to laugh and joke around with one another and this was a picture that was just caught in the moment of us teasing one another.

Engagements

Right after Rafe and I got engaged I knew we only had a small window to get our engagements done before any rain, wind, snow or whatever other elements could come our way.

We were lucky enough to have a warm fall day, we had a great time taking our pictures.

Slacker is an understatement

I have been getting comments about my absence of posts as of late and I will just say; they are coming I promise. Here are the cliff's notes of what we have been up to until the unabridged version is posted.

Rafe and I spent Thanksgiving in Shelley and then swapped and spent Christmas in Salt Lake with his family. Busy busy busy with wedding preparations and all things marriage. My sister Laura and her family even her husband Nate (who has been absent from family gatherings for the past several years because of school, HURRY AND GET DONE ALREADY!) were able to come and spend a week with us before the wedding.

So January 15th has come and gone and Rafe and I are now an old married couple, not quite but we're no spring chickens either. The day and even week leading up to the wedding was spent running errands, checking off lists, last minute changes and lots of late nights and early mornings. There was a lot of preparation involved and I am so thankful to my family and Rafe's family for all the help they gave us.

The crappy part was Thursday before the wedding I started getting a sore throat and by the time Saturday rolled around I was full on sick, more on that topic later. Our wedding, luncheon, and reception was really fun and I was so glad to see family and friends.

Rafe and I spent the night at a hotel by the airport and we were up early early the next morning to catch our flight. We spent 6 blissful days in Cancun, Mexico and I was eager to do nothing but sleep and lay out at the beach. IT. WAS. WONDERFUL. We were sad to leave the warm weather and come home to less than pleasing weather conditions.

So there is the short version of my life in the last couple of months, I promise I will post pictures and tell stories.

Christmas 2010

I know Christmas was almost two months ago but I thought I would try and catch up on all the stuff we have been up to.

We spent Christmas in Salt Lake and we decided that since we were getting married a few weeks later we would keep it low key.

Since we were going to honeymoon in Mexico and have a car, we got a Garmin

with all of North America so we could navigate while vacationing. And of course

I had wrapped myself up a new pair of shoes, because you can never have to many. Right?

Not pictured is the Little Giant ladder We got for Rafe, we have some very high ceilings in the house and it will come in very handy for painting.

Santa was also sneaky and stuffed a stocking for us both, packed with travel goodies for our upcoming trip. Rafe got spoiled I think.

Wedding updates

It seems like I haven't written a post for such a long time......oh that's because I haven't. A lot of people have asked me how the wedding planning is coming along and so here are all the updates and detail.

Rafe and I have been busy little beavers trying to plan this whole thing, most of the time we work quite well together, sometimes mmmmmm; not so much. We always end up seeing eye to eye on things so it works out. At first I had a really hard time even deciding what colors we should have for the reception etc., I went back and forth on every possible color combination and when I thought I had decided I would change my mind. I finally landed on yellow and I am quite happy with the final decision. I scoured the Internet for all things wedding, looking at sites like Martha Stewart, Wedding Bee, and every blog out there that had mention of the word wedding.

Since we got engaged in October I wanted to take our engagement photos as soon as possible before it turned cold, you never know what the weather will be from one moment to the next living in Utah. We were really lucky because the Saturday we took our pictures it was perfect fall weather. We really like our photographer she made us feel really comfortable, especially Rafe since he doesn't love having his picture taken (many of you may notice that so many of our pictures together he is usually making some funny face). I was very happy with how the pictures turned out and we decided pretty easily on an announcement photo. Hopefully when we take our bridal pictures it won't be a stormy snowy day, fingers crossed.

Planning the reception and dinner has been a task to be sure, we have gone back and forth on what we want but I think we have it all squared away. We have been working on decor, centerpieces, food ideas and everything else in between. I think we have it all planned out and now we have a moment to breathe until the week before when the whole plan has to be implemented. I am very excited that my sister Laura and her entire family including husband Nate will be flying in the week before to spend some time with us. Nate has been MIA for most of our family adventures since he is really busy with dental school out in Ohio, so it will be really fun to have him around. We'll have 3 out of 4 sisters very pregnant when we get married so I let them choose whatever they want and what is most comfortable to wear. We've planned the cake, flowers, colors, venue, dress, suit, ties, jewelry, pictures, food, etc, etc, etc, and most importantly we booked our honeymoon. I will be glad when it's all said and done and I'm sure Rafe will be glad that I won't be super bossy anymore!

I know that December will fly by because of the holiday and January will be here before we know it. I am very excited for January 15th to get here!

Hey Batter Batter Batter

From about April until mid October I am consumed by one thing. Softball. I love playing and if you ask Rafe he'll probably tell you I love it a little to much, this year I got to play with four teams and I had a blast. I made some really great friends and I cannot wait until next season. I consider myself a pretty good player, and I can hold my own. If you look at some of the pictures below you might think otherwise.

Thanks to the teams that allowed me to play with them this year. Thanks Business Time, Thundercats I and II and Team Buster. We experienced wins, losses, crazy umpires, championships, and of course played teams that didn't belong in the same league. I'm talking to you Copper Mountain.
